Reaction time test
Click to start, wait for green, then click as fast as you can. After five rounds you get your average.
Your favorites come first on the home page and under the star at the top (in this browser).
How the test works
When you start, the box turns red. After a random wait of 2 to 5 seconds it turns green, and the time runs from that moment until your click. Because the wait changes every round, you can't guess when it will come. If you click while it's still red, you see “Too soon”: that round doesn't count, and it starts again with your next click.
The test has five rounds. At the end you see your average (the five times added up and divided by five), your median (the middle time once they're in order, which a single slow round barely moves) and your best time.
What the number includes
The time measured is more than your reflexes: the screen takes a moment to show the change, and the mouse, keyboard or touchscreen and the browser take a moment to deliver your click. Those delays depend on the device, so compare results taken on the same device.
Keys and touch
You can click, tap the box or press the spacebar anywhere on the page. With the box selected, the Enter key works too.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the wait random?
So you react to the color change and not to a rhythm you've learned. With a fixed wait you could start the click before the box turns green.
What does “Too soon” mean?
You clicked before the box turned green. That round is repeated, so it never counts.
Why is my time different on another device?
Because the screen, the mouse or touchscreen and the browser add their own delay to every result. Compare yourself on the same device.
Is my result saved?
Your best average is kept in your own browser. It isn't sent anywhere.
