Mouse test
Click inside the box with each button and turn the wheel: every press is counted, and presses that come too close together are flagged.
Your favorites come first on the home page and under the star at the top (in this browser).

The five buttons
The browser numbers mouse buttons from 0 to 4: 0 is the main button (usually the left one), 1 the middle button or wheel button, 2 the secondary button (usually the right one), 3 the fourth button (usually Back) and 4 the fifth (usually Forward). Each button lights up on the drawing while it's down, and the table counts its presses. Inside the box, the right button doesn't open the menu.
One press counted as two
A mouse button can start counting a single press as two clicks: a double click you didn't make. The test flags two presses of the same button that come closer together than the threshold, 80 milliseconds unless you change it, as “suspicious double clicks”. Click slowly, one click at a time: if that number goes up, the button may be counting one press twice.
If you click very fast on purpose, those presses can also be flagged: lower the threshold, or test with slow clicks.
The wheel
Each scroll event counts one step up or down. Touchpads and mice with smooth scrolling send many small events, so the count is of events, not of the notches you feel.
Frequently asked questions
Why are the left and right buttons swapped?
A mouse set up for left-handed use reverses the button actions, so the test shows them the way your system sends them.
Does it measure DPI or polling rate?
No. A web page can't read them reliably, so the test doesn't show numbers it can't measure.
My side buttons don't count
Some mice only send their side buttons with their own software installed, or use them for something else. If they work as Back and Forward in the browser, they should count here.
Can I test a touchpad?
Yes: taps and clicks count as the main button, and two-finger scrolling counts as wheel events.
